NINETY-NINES TOY AIRLIFT – 2015
December 22, 2015
The Virginia Chapter of the Ninety Nines held their eight annual Toy Airlift at Richmond Executive Airport (KFCI) on Saturday, December 12, 2015. The event is held to benefit Holiday Helpers at Ft. Lee. This organization helps to provide toys to children of soldiers who are seriously injured or who otherwise are experiencing serious financial hardship. The chapter also collects personal items and clothing for our injured veterans at McGuire,VA hospital.
The Toy Airlift was a huge success. The latest count shows we collected 676 toys and 631 personal care items and clothing for the veterans.
Soldiers from Fort Lee were there to receive gifts flown in by pilots from all over the state of Virginia. Ninety Nines chapters from Hampton Roads, Old Dominion and Eastern Pennsylvania also flew in planes full of gifts. There was a total of 14 planes involved in the toy airlift throughout the day.
Chesterfield County children and their parents arrived for Santa’s grand entrance. Santa flew in on his plane, the “North Pole Polar Express.” Santa was available to meet and talk with the children and receive the gifts they brought.
Other local Chesterfield residents drove in with their generous donations which included bicycles.
Christmas music was provided throughout the day by the Manchester H.S. choral students directed by Robyn Kim and the Bon Air Strings directed by Randy Allen.
The Virginia Chapter of the Ninety Nines wishes to thank Chesterfield County public relations, the Richmond Executive airport staff, Dominion Aviation’s staff and line service, Kings Korner and the Virginia Department of Aviation. Everyone generously provided their time and assistance in helping us put on another successful event. Dominion Aviation also offered fuel discounts for the pilots involved with the toy airlift. We also wish to thank Manchester High School and the Bon Air Strings for their wonderful performances.
We look forward to doing it all again in 2016.
Sincerely,
The Virginia Chapter of the Ninety Nines

RUSTY PILOT'S EVENT WAS A SUCCESS!
September 13, 2015
The Chesterfield Pilots Association hosted an AOPA Rusty Pilots training event on Saturday September 13, 2015. The purpose of this event was to bring the pilots in the area together who may have not been able to fly lately and get a refresher on things they need to know to get back in the air again. Over 50 people attended the seminar that was presented by three very knowledgeable CFIs (Matt Welch, Becky Luther & John Phelps). The three hour seminar counts towards the ground portion of a BFR and everyone who attended received a certificate and endorsements for their logbooks. Following the event the WingNuts Flying Club sponsored and prepared an excellent cookout lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips & drinks that were enjoyed by everyone! During this time local Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs) & CFIs were available to answer any questions.

EAA YOUNG EAGLES EVENT
June 25, 2015
On behalf of Chesterfield Pilots Association, EAA Chapter 231, Chesterfield County personnel and Dominion Aviation, I would like to thank all the volunteers that participated today at the Young Eagles event. Thirty-five smiling youths left with a life experience not likely to be forgotten. The planning assisted in a smooth flow of participants and no one had to wait very long for their flight. Almost all parents made an effort to express thanks to the pilots and staff.
If you are receiving this but did not get a chance in participation or volunteering do not fret, you can enjoy in the next one. Jake LaBello – labelloj@comcast.net
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was great to see such well behaved kids and their enthusiasm for flying. For some, it was their first airplane ride! Thanks for the opportunity and for doing an outstanding job organizing the event.
Regards,
Ravi Sagiraju

OPEN HOUSE COOKOUT
May 27, 2015
Our first planned event for the Chesterfield Pilots Association was a success! While the B-17 “Texas Raiders” was in town the group decided to have a cookout and open house. This was a great opportunity for everyone to meet and socialize with other pilots and families based at the Richmond Executive Airport. Jim and Jon Longstreth did a fabulous job preparing the food. They ensured we had a full complement of hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, coleslaw, chips and drinks so no one went hungry. Thank you! Your efforts were very much appreciated! Some members of the Richmond EAA Chapter 231 joined us and then conducted their meeting in the terminal building afterwards. It was a beautiful evening with good company, great food and even a B-17 overflying the field!
